Harvest Kitchen, in collaboration with local artist, May Babcock, will hold a Papermaking Event featuring an interactive papermaking demonstration, a seasonally themed meal sourced with local ingredients, and a conversation on sustainability and the creative use of plants, including invasive species, in the paper making process. This Papermaking Event will benefit the community in many ways and will be appealing to a wide audience. The goal is multifaceted: to educate the community on the importance of local food and a sustainable food system. It is an exciting time in Rhode Island with regard to accessibility to local, seasonal fresh foods. This interactive Event will educate guests with a hands on creative arts activity and traditional sustainable craft, a nourishing meal and an interesting discussion of the importance of issues around environmental stewardship and invasive species removal, frequently unaddressed in both artistic and food system conversations.
