Call for Performing Artist and Presenting Organization/Events Proposals
Pawtucket Arts Festival 2012

The Pawtucket Arts Festival invites performing artists from the City of Pawtucket and the New England region and beyond to submit applications to participate in the Pawtucket Arts Festival 2012. The PAF celebrates Pawtucket as America’s first city born at the crossroads of creativity, design, and industry where the art of innovation is the spirit behind more than 200 years of history and a 21st century new story in the arts.

Artists in dance, music, theatre, folk/traditional and ethnic performing arts; as well as interdisciplinary forms and the literary arts are encouraged to respond to the PAF call for performers and presentations/events for the festival which extends from Friday, September 7 through Sunday September 23, 2012.

Festival locations will include the downtown Pawtucket area including historic Slater Mill, Slater Memorial Park, the School Street Pier, and several mill and cultural sites throughout the city. These performance sites offer PAF the opportunity to present fine arts performances in dance, music, and theatre as well as folk/ethnic and popular arts such as street theatre or performers, circus arts, and storytelling. Artists and ensembles devoted to arts for youth are encouraged to apply along with performers or ensembles that offer audience participation or lecture/demonstration formats. Innovative multidisciplinary concepts are also welcome. A number of sites will be outdoors, rain or shine, and limited in capacity to meet technical demands and will require flexible spirit on the part of performers. The goal is to showcase the City of Pawtucket as a home and stage for the performing arts and a host for guest performers.

PAF Performing Arts Applications for individual and ensemble performers as well as events presenting organizations (please use same form) are available at www.pawtucketartsfestival.org. Application specifics must include performing artist/ensemble fee or an events budget for organizations, description of work, time requirements and technical requirements such as staging, sound, lighting or other production needs. Supporting materials documenting artistic work and promotional materials for media are required. Incomplete applications that do not provide requested information will NOT be considered. Artist selection and placement is at the discretion of the Pawtucket Arts Festival and PAF reserves the right to limit or refuse any and all applications without comment or return of documents or supporting materials. PAF may also file and retain applications for future consideration as the festival expands its programming to a yearly format. Accepted artists and programming will be included and showcased on the PAF website.

The Four Seasons of Pawtucket are in artful bloom in the Blackstone River Valley when dance, music, and theatre as well as the literary arts join hands with the visual arts to offer the 14th Annual Pawtucket Arts Festival in September 2012. For more information, please call Diane Agostini, Program Coordinator/Pawtucket Arts Festival at 401-724-5200, ext. 438.
