The Greatness of Gospel: Down by the Riverside concert pays homage to music that was begun in America but has spread throughout the world. It is music rich and powerful music born out of despair yet is still filled with hope and undying faith. It is hand-clapping, foot-stomping music blended with sweet ballads and songs that cry out from the soul.

Music Director Kimberly Morrison returns to direct the 22-voice Mixed Magic Theatre Exult Choir in a glorious celebration of gospel music that ranges from traditional to contemporary with a few surprises including a song in African language from the Soweto Gospel Choir and a ballad by Bob Dylan.

The choir is a diverse mix of singers from all over the region that includes Pawtucket Foundation Executive Director, Thomas Mann, Beverly Fears, the wife of a New England Patriots coach.

This year’s concert will be performed under the stars at the new Amphitheater at Town Landing located in Downtown Pawtucket on the banks of the historic Blackstone River.

Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and the entire family for an unforgettable evening of music.
