An old -time community  dance called by Colette Fournier, with live music  by French Roast. These dances known also as quadrilles, reels, circles, contras and squares have been danced in town halls and grange halls in New England since the seventeenth century. Since the 1960's they have enjoyed a revival,  and we are fortunate to have a thriving scene here as well. Fun for the whole family and you don't need to bring a partner, or fancy clothes! No experience necessary; all dances will be taught!

French Roast is

Michelle Kaminsky on fiddle, Alan Bradbury on accordion and bass, and Mark Wholley on guitar. They have been playing together for over a decade in various bands. They play tunes from the French Canadian repertoire as well as Southern mountain music. One of their favorite places to play is the Rehoboth Contra Dance. Michelle and Alan are well known for playing Cajun music in Magnolia. Michelle is also a Mark and Alan can often be found playing in the Boston area with the Old-Time band The Dixie Butterhounds.

Colette Fournier, has been dancing, and making music since she was a wee one, and is sure to make this dance lots of fun for everyone!! Colette's family comes from the Quebec region of Canada, which has helped shape her style of dance, fiddling, singing, and percussion on spoons, washboard and feet. She is a member of the Franco-Americans Contra Dance Band, and the KC Moaners Jug Band.
